Meet Dr. Leslie Emmert Buck
Family. That is why Dr. Leslie Emmert-Buck recently returned to Michigan after spending nearly 25 years in Maryland.
She is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cornea and refractive specialist. The scope of her practice includes providing patients with the best corrected visual acuity possible through cataract and laser refractive surgery. She believes direct patient care and increased patient autonomy leads to happier patients with better outcomes.
Dr. Emmert-Buck completed a combined MD/PhD program from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD, and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. After finishing her internship at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, she matriculated from ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland. Subsequently, Dr. Emmert-Buck spent a year at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia for fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery with Drs. Peter Laibson, Elisabeth Cohen, Chris Rapuano, and Kristin Hammersmith.
After her fellowship, she joined Midshore Surgical Eye Center in Easton, MD, and later purchased half the practice. Living and practicing ophthalmology in Easton provided opportunities to serve the residents on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for many years. Although very difficult to leave her growing practice and life in Maryland, Dr. Emmert-Buck and her family recently moved back to Michigan to live near immediate and extended family. It was the right decision. Now, founding Capstone Vision, Dr. Emmert-Buck’s goal is to provide excellent eye care and vision correction to the residents of Michigan.
Dr. Emmert-Buck is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Refractive Surgery Alliance. She is Board Certified through the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an attending physician at Ascension Rochester Hospital and William Beaumont Hospitals of Troy and Royal Oak.
Dr. Emmert-Buck also values the importance of community involvement and is an active member of the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce as well as serving on the Board of Directors.
Outside clinical responsibilities, Dr. Emmert-Buck has enjoyed rediscovering the inland lakes and parks, and Great Lakes of Michigan with her family. Watch the video below to learn more about Dr. Emmert-Buck.
